ACEC Political Advocacy
Advocacy
The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) plays an active role in political advocacy on behalf of the engineering industry, primarily to ensure that public policy supports the interests of engineering firms and promotes the growth of the industry. Here’s how ACEC contributes to political advocacy:
Legislative Lobbying
ACEC engages with federal, state, and local governments to advocate for policies that benefit the engineering profession. ACEC lobbies on a variety of issues including infrastructure investment, regulatory policies, tax reform, and contract law, ensuring that legislation aligns with the needs and goals of engineering companies.
Regulatory Advocacy
ACEC works to influence and shape regulations related to the engineering industry, such as those dealing with environmental standards, procurement rules, and licensing. Our aim is to minimize regulatory burdens and promote a business-friendly environment for engineering firms.
Coalition Building
ACEC often works in coalition with other organizations, trade groups, and stakeholders to advance policies that support infrastructure development and engineering projects. This collective approach increases our influence in advocating for critical projects.
Political Action Committee (PAC):
ACEC operates a Political Action Committee (PAC), which helps to support pro-engineering candidates running for office. The ACEC PAC makes contributions to political candidates and helps influence elections in a way that benefits the engineering industry.
Public Policy Education
ACEC educates both policymakers and the public about the importance of engineering services in societal development, emphasizing how investments in infrastructure and engineering innovations contribute to economic growth, safety, and quality of life.
Advocacy on Key Issues
ACEC advocates on issues such as funding for transportation and infrastructure projects, the protection of intellectual property rights, tax policies that favor business development, and promoting fair competition in government contracting.
By staying involved in the political process, ACEC ensures that the voice of the engineering community is heard, and it works to shape policies that create a favorable environment for engineering firms across the country.
National PAC
ACEC’s Political Action Committee – ACEC/PAC – is the engineering industry’s primary tool for political engagement at the national level. ACEC/PAC is the largest PAC in the engineering and design services industry.
